Jerry Sullivan, Psy.D., leads the Medicare and Federal Channels at Optum Behavioral Health Solutions. A licensed clinical psychologist, he has been an Optum employee for 6+ years and previously held positions as Vice President of Clinical Services and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Optum. Sullivan has over 20 years’ experience in managed behavioral health care including roles in direct services, clinical oversight of direct service operations, provider contracting and network development, quality improvement, account management and new product development and sales.

In his current position since March, 2011, he has strengthened the relationship with Optum’s key internal Medicare Health Plan partner, United Health Care Medicare and Retirement (M&R) and facilitated the addition of new lives to Optum management with the plan. He continues to work to build out Optum’s client portfolio of independent health plan business in the Medicare space. The Federal Channel is a continuing growth area for Optum and he has been instrumental in building out this space and positioning Optum for several opportunities there in the coming months.

Sullivan lives in suburban Chicago with his wife Jane and near their two adult children; Molly (25yo) and Kevin (22yo). He holds an undergraduate degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He is an avid bicyclist, racquetball player and music fan. In addition to his work at Optum, he maintains a small private practice near his home.
